Our
Training Staff
Our
trainers have approximately 40 years of dog training experience between them.
They have trained their dogs for obedience competition and search and rescue.
Their dogs have obtained upper level obedience titles and Canine Good Citizen
certificates. Our trainers also enjoy having fun with their dogs, teaching
them new tricks and helping them to become the well-mannered dogs they are.
Our
Principal trainers are Ann
Marie Easton and Betty Handwerker.
Ann
Marie
has
provided her services to two local law enforcement search and rescue
units as a
canine handler with two of her dogs,
a volunteer at
the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County during Hurricane Katrina
and continued work for HSMSC from 2005-2008, serving in several positions
including coordinator of the behavior modification volunteer program. Also as behavior
evaluator for dogs at the Memphis Animal Shelter, Bartlett Animal Shelter and
Sunny Meadows Safe Haven for Pets. She has been an assistant
trainer for Elta Woodliff, CPDT, and has attended numerous seminars, workshops
and Pat Miller's Intern Academy ( level I: Canine Behavior and Training and
Level 2: Behavior Modification).
Betty’s
canine experience began in obedience training over 20 years ago. She and her
Golden Retriever, Duck worked together to obtain his Companion Dog Excellence
title in competitive obedience. She also put the Canine Good Citizens Test on
several canines. From 1995-2007 she served as a canine search dog handler with
both a volunteer and law enforcement search and rescue organization.
The
Dog's Day is proud to have these trainers on our staff, offering the
quality training classes that they are very capable of providing to the Dog
owners of Desoto County, North Mississippi and Memphis area.
